I've been home-roasting coffee for about 15 years. It's been a fun journey that I'd like to share with interested folks. I'll talk about coffee beans, harvesting and processing, then describe various options for roasting coffee. Next we'll roast a kilogram or two of coffee in my home roaster which shows the temperature of the beans throughout the roasting process. Finally we'll grind, brew and drink some freshly-roasted coffee.
The roaster I've brought is an Aillio Bullet - an induction-heat roaster. I'll bring a commercial grinder, and a 2 liter pour-over thermal carafe for brewing. You are encouraged to bring a coffee cup and anything (like sweetener or cream) that you like in coffee.
I've been a repeat visiting professor of computer science at Reed College, and worked at Galois, Inc. for a dozen years. Coffee has been one of my main hobbies for about 30 years.
